CYPRUS. Salamis. Evagoras I, circa 411-374 BC. Stater (Silver, 22 mm, 11.08 g, 8 h). 𐠁𐠄𐠲𐠍𐠦 ('e-u-wa-ko-ro' in Cypriot syllabic script) Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. 𐠞π ͺ𐠐[𐠃]-𐠩 ('pa-si-le-wo-se' in Cypriot syllabic script) - EY He-goat with long horns and beard recumbent to right on dotted ground line; above, grain of barley; to right, uncertain letter; on the right, countermark: bull standing right in rectangular incuse. BMC 55. Masson & Amandry p. 37, B. TraitΓ© II, 1156 and pl. CXXIX, 4. Beautiful old collection toning. Struck on a somewhat irregular flan and with minor weakness on the obverse from countermarking, otherwise, good very fine. From the collection of Dr. A.
