The series of posters for the 1982 Football World Cup in Spain remains one of the most remarkable, with each of the twelve host cities having called upon a different renowned artist.

Geneva Collections is proud to present a series of original lithographs, posters before the letter, signed in pencil by the artist, taken from the portfolio "Copa del mundo de Fútbol". Ed. Maeght, Paris. 150 signed proofs, 20 off-side copies and 10 artist's copies.

The poster of the city of Gijón is the work of French artist Gérard Titus-Carmel. Born in 1942 in Paris, Titus-Carmel is a painter and engraver, but also a poet and essayist. His poster for the city of Gijón depicts nets that are just waiting to be shaken. He also designed the poster for the French Open in 1987.

The poster for the city of Madrid, which hosts seven matches in the two stadiums it provides, is certainly one of the most successful in the series. Born in Madrid, Arroyo left his country in 1958 at the age of 21 to escape Franco's regime. He settled in Paris where he produced his first paintings. His style will be seen as the foundation of narrative figuration, which is characterized by an absence of depth and large flat areas that replace the decor.

The poster of the city of Oviedo is the work of the Belgian artist Pol Bury (1922-2005), and shows nine footballers performing the same gesture.

The poster of the city of Malaga for the Rosaleda stadium is the work of French artist Roland Topor. A complete artist: writer, poet, filmmaker, actor, songwriter, illustrator, draftsman, painter, Topor is a true jack of all trades. This poster is typical of his coldly humorous drawings.

The poster of the city of Valencia is the work of the artist Valerio Adami, born in 1935, representative of the Figuration narrative movement. His style, which is based on flat colours surrounded by thick black outlines, is comparable to the ligne claire in comics. In 1980, he designed the poster for the Roland Garros international tennis tournament.
