Description

The Selmer Mark VI soprano saxophone is a legendary instrument. Coltrane played Selmer saxophones for much of his life, and in 1960 adopted the Mark VI soprano, with which he recorded "A Love Supreme". The instrument, praised for its ergonomics and homogeneity of sound, offered him great flexibility and richness of tone in both bass and treble. Henri SELMER Paris is an international family business based in France, manufacturing musical instruments in Mantes-la-Ville near Paris, France. Founded in 1885, it is renowned for its high-quality wind and brass instruments, particularly saxophones, The SELMER Paris brand has been used by many of the world's most famous saxophonists, including Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Paul Desmond, Michael Brecker, Sonny Rollins and Coleman Hawkins. This example bears the serial number 255739. Its superb harmonic richness will delight even the most demanding ears. The dynamics of the sounds and their power allow perfect musical expressivity. Its harmonic richness gives a sensation of full tones, whatever the tessitura. The overall balance of treble, midrange and bass is simply excellent. What's more, this instrument is particularly in tune, which is not always the case with all saxophones of this era. This saxophone was recently completely overhauled by luthier David Beuvry at the Le Temps des Soufflants workshop. The instrument has been fully re-stamped with French Chedeville Lelandais brown leather stamps, plastic resonator. This marvel is once again ready to offer its full potential.
