ORDER OF THE LEGION OF HONOR French honorary decoration established on May 19, 1802 by Napoleon Bonaparte. A distinction to military bravery and civil merit. Star with 5 double rays enameled in white, topped with a wreath of oak and laurel. The center of the Star presents on the obverse the head of the Republic with the legend around it "French Republic" and on the reverse two tricolor flags with the legend "Honneur et Patrie".
