Description

Two 18th century pewter dishes (33.5cm diameter) with portraits of reformers, engraved with chisel and wheel. One in effigy of Jean Calvin, "IOHANNES CALVINUS / ANNO 1509-1564". The other in effigy of Daniel Toussain, "DANIEL TOSSANUS / ANNO 1541-1602". The engraving is probably later (19th century). Both plates have been appraised by the Musée d'art et d'histoire de Genève (with index cards).
