Description

Pirates of Barataria - Chalmette - original plate n° 39 T.09 Pirates of Barataria - Chalmette - original plate #40 T.09 Double plate of a battle scene! The Lafitte brothers, appointed captains by General Andrew Jackson of Louisiana, are making final preparations for the bloody battle that is about to begin against the English. The general will set up his headquarters at McCarthy Plantation while Pierre Lafitte will be sent to Fort Saint-Philip, further south, to await weapons and ammunition. The goal: to take advantage of the terrain and the muddy marshes of the region to surround the redcoats. In the port of New Orleans, Artemis, who was going to take care of the supply of Fort Saint-Philip, contemplated with surprise the ship in charge of this mission: it was the "Enterprise", one of the first steamships in history! For the end of the third cycle of the Pirates of Barataria, Marc Bourgne and Franck Bonnet stage the Battle of New Orleans in 1815, considered decisive for the American army. This ninth volume, more rooted in the history of the United States, is prefaced by André Kaspi, a leading historian on the subject.
