Description

A magnificent english sterling silver table clock from 1894 with two separate dials and an ink pot by Leuchars & Son. The clock comes in its original presentation case. Leuchars was established in London in 1794 by James Leuchars. In 1837, the firm was awarded the Royal Warrant. Leuchars exhibited and won prize medals at the Great Exhibition of 1851, the International Exhibition of 1862, a silver medal at the International Exposition of 1867 and a gold medal at the International Exposition of 1878 in Paris. This clock was retailed in the in the Parisian store that opened in 1870. Good condition, except a small crack on the glass ink pot, which can be easily replaced. London 1894 sterling silver hallmark, the case is 14.5x15 cm, 8.5 cm in height; the clock upper plate of the lid is 8.7 cm, while the bottom plate is 8.8 cm, while the dials are 5.5 cm. in diameter. The bottom plate with a crystal insert is 11.5 cm.
