Geographical Escalade

On the occasion of the Fête de l’Escalade — which celebrates each year Geneva’s victory of 1602 and brings the city together around historical parades and the traditional chocolate pot — Geneva Collections is organizing an event dedicated to Maps & Geographical Instruments in its offices, in the heart of Geneva’s Old Town.

"Collector"

The word "collector" has its roots in classical Latin. It derives from the term "collectio", which means "collecting" or "the act of collecting", and in turn from the verb "colligere" (com : together, and legere : to gather or choose). Originally, it referred to the act of bringing elements together into a coherent whole.

Escalade and Curiosities

Cabinet of Curiosities: an Escalade between history and mystery. Organized by Geneva Collections, the Swiss platform for antiques and collectibles, in collaboration with the Battolo family, an indispensable figure in Geneva's antiques trade, this event invites visitors on a journey outside of time.

Contemporary January

In collaboration with Greg Podgorski, Geneva Collections is pleased to present its exhibition Contemporary January. To begin the year 2024 on a bright note, we have organized an exhibition featuring the works of two talented women artists, Maria Kiesner and Marta Kochanek.

Escalade

On 12 December 1602, the Duke of Savoy launched a surprise attack on the city of Geneva in the middle of the night. The city's defence by its citizens, who were taken by surprise by this "Escalade" of its walls, marked a decisive turning point in the history of Geneva.

Art and Advertising

For the first edition of Geneva Art Week, Geneva Collections is organizing an exhibition on art and advertising in the 20th century (13 September - 13 October). The objects and advertising posters from the marketplace genevacollections.ch are used to illustrate this journey.

Coins and Collection

The collection of coins, or numismatics, has a history , that spans more than two millennia. Its roots go back to antiquity, where rulers and the wealthy began to collect and preserve coins as symbols of power and prestige.
