Greece, Athens. Silver tetradrachm 454-404 BC. 17.11g. SNG Copenhagen 31; SNG München 49. Very beautiful coin, of fine style and with exceptional centering. Superb. Although belonging to the broad issues of the second half of the 5th century BC, this type with a finer owl and certain details suggesting the so-called "transitional" types of the preceding issues was certainly struck around 440, the period of the construction of the Parthenon under the authority of Pericles.
