Lokroi Epizephyrioi (Locres), an important city of Magna Graecia founded at the beginning of the 7th century BC by colonists from Locris, in central Greece. After several centuries of regional power, the city went through a turbulent period in the 4th century BC, notably after its temporary takeover by Dionysius II of Syracuse. The minting of this stater thus affirms the renewal of its autonomy and the return to independence. Inv: G26375
