Akragas (Agrigento), founded around 582 BC by colonists from Gela of Rhodian and Cretan origin, quickly became one of the most powerful Greek cities in Sicily. This didrachm belongs to the period of its zenith, marked in particular by the reign of Theron and the victory over the Carthaginians at Himera in 480 BC. Inv: G26372
