Description
Gothard Tunnel silver and bronze medals in their original presentation case. Extremely rare. Awarded to F.J. Millieret Ainé chief the mechanical perforation of the Goschenen section of the tunnel. These medals were awarded to the Management level employees involved in the construction of the tunnel between 1872 and 1880. These medals are scarce on their own, however the original award case is extremely rare,with this one possibly being the unique surviving example. The case measures 12x8.5 cm. Medals are 33 mm; Silver 28.39 grams; Bronze 25.97 grams. The silver medal has a schock on the edge, otherwise perfect condition. Inv: 6000D253N35
