Much rarer in solid silver, compared to silver plated or bronze varieties. The obverse of this beautiful medal presents conjoined busts of Nicholas II and Alexandra facing right. The reverse shows coats of arms of the Russian Empire and France, the inscription in seven lines that reads "VISITE EN FRANCE DE LEURS MAJEST脡S L'EMPEREUR ET L'IMP脡RATRICE DE RUSSIE CHERBOURG PARIS CHALONS 5-9 OCTOBRE 1896", and a wreath below.
