Description
A spectacular edition for the serious collector and in as new condition. "This reprint of the Pickwick Papers is taken from the first edition of 1837. It is printed on specially made antique laid paper and limited to 250 copies with a selection of hand-tinted illustrations. Copies 1-25 are full bound [in leather] by W. T. Morrell and have a fore-edge painting. Copies 26-250 are quarter bound [in leather] by W. T. Morrell." This is copy number 53, featuring forest green quarter leather and lighter green cloth, all edges are gilt, bright gold title and decoration on the leather, five raised spine-bands, marbled end-papers, ribbon bookmark, housed in a sturdy slipcase that is marbled on the sides and spine, brown cloth covering on top and bottom, classy and beautiful. A piece of jewellery.
